US Bar Association announces rule of law award for Pakistani lawyers, judges

NEW YORK: In recognition of on-going movement and struggle of deposed judges and Pakistani lawyers, American Bar Association would confer "Rule of Law Award" on deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and lawyers community of Pakistan in a dignified ceremony.

President Supreme Court Bar Association, Barrister Aitizaz Ahsan and spokesperson of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Athar Minullah have arrived in New York.

Aitzaz Ahsan would receive the prestigious award in the presence of thousands of lawyers at Hilton Hotel in New York on behalf of the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Athar Minullah would receive award of lawyers’ community of Pakistan.

Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan would deliver the speech of Justice Tassaduq Hussain who is supposed to attend the annual meeting of lawyers’ fraternity. The lawyer’s leader Ali Ahmed Kurd did not get the visa for the United States.

Ali Aitzaz, son of Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan while talking to Online told that his father after receiving the award would leave for Pakistan, earlier he was scheduled to depart for the country on Tuesday.

US Bar Association hosted a banquet in the honor of Aitizaz Ahsan and Athar Minullah in which well known lawyers of the United States participated
