Check The Track Record

When looking for an attorney there are some questions you need to ask them.  First, you will need to find out what the attorney’s track record is on DUI cases.  You need to find out how many DUI cases they have defended and what their success rate is.  This will help you determine how successful they may be in defending your case.  You probably wouldn’t want to select an attorney who has never won a DUI case before.  Try to look for someone who has successfully won multiple DUI cases.

Do They Focus on DUI’s?

Another thing to ask the perspective attorney is how much experience they have with DUI cases.  You will want to find out how extensive their background is in handling DUI’s and how knowledgeable they are with that area.  There are multiple laws and regulations related to DUI’s that are very complex.  This is why it’s important to find an attorney who understands them and has a lot of experience.  There are many criminal defense attorneys but it is best to find an attorney who specializes in DUI’s specifically.

Find Out What They Charge

It’s important that you also find out what fees each attorney charges.  It may be difficult to ask an attorney what they charge to defend your case. But, it’s important to find out this information upfront, if at all possible. Each DUI attorney  will likely charge different amounts for their services which is why it is important to find out what you’ll be expected to pay if you win or lose the case.  Having pricing information on different attorneys will help you compare them before you make your decision.

As you can see, it takes a bit of work to find the right legal help.  But, taking the time to find the right attorney is very worth the effort in the long run.  Having a bad attorney, or one that doesn’t have your best interest in mind, can be very painful for you.  If you do some research and ask some questions you will be able to select a good attorney and hopefully have a positive outcome for your case.
